Acceptable Use Policy

This policy exists to keep the Service fast and available for everyone, and to keep both of us on the right side of the law. It applies to every request made with an API key issued by us.

You must not

• Attempt to circumvent rate limits or credit allowances, including by rotating accounts, sharing keys across organisations, or splitting a workload across many free accounts.
• Resell or redistribute raw API responses as a competing data feed without a written agreement.
• Use the Service to collect personal data about individuals, or to build profiles of identifiable people, including reviewer identities.
• Use the data to facilitate counterfeiting, review manipulation, price fixing, or any other unlawful commercial practice.
• Probe, scan or test the security of our infrastructure without written permission, or attempt to access another customer's data.
• Use the Service in a way that breaches any agreement you have with Amazon or any other third party.

You should

• Cache responses appropriately rather than refetching unchanged data — see best practices.
• Back off on 429 and 5xx rather than retrying immediately in a tight loop.
• Keep separate keys for production and test traffic so you can revoke one without the other.
• Tell us in advance about unusually large or bursty workloads so we can make sure they land well.

Enforcement

Where we can, we will contact you before taking action. Serious or repeated breaches — or activity that threatens the stability of the Service for other customers — may result in immediate suspension. Where suspension is our decision rather than a legal requirement, we will refund unused prepaid credit.

If you believe someone is misusing the Service, let us know.
